David Walker,
the Artist
David Walker, a native born "Hoosier", grew up in
rural Indiana. His childhood was spent on the rolling fields, woods and
creeks, from which he continues to gather inspiration. Art has been a major
pursuit for him since the age of five.
David attended the John Herron School of Art in Indianapolis,
Indiana, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1976. Shortly
after graduating, he toured by bicycle the Northwestern and Midwestern United
States, cataloging in his mind's eye the panoramic vistas and the unique
beauty of the different regions of the United States. For several years while
developing his painting style, he worked as a sign writer, illustrator, and
parade saddlemaker. In 1982 he began painting, and since then has produced
hundreds of paintings that have been collected throughout the United States.
David's paintings are richly composed to express and reflect the abundance of life.
Each painting is a strong juxtaposition of light and shadow, a push and pull of
spelled out detail on the one hand, and imagination and mystery in the other.
His paintings give the viewer a rich visual feast; yet provide a haven of calm.
Currently David resides in Jacksonville Beach, Florida with his wife and
three children. He maintains a private art studio, and remains dedicated to
producing works of art that express the finest qualities of life.
